Was it wrong to withhold judgement until the view of the other side (thankfully) appeared? I think not. It's certainly an odd sort of image with its giant yawning void - that darkness again, the contrasting horizontals, verticals, and circles, and then that unexpected face. Possibly would be a bit more effective with more contrast on his face - it looks a touch flat against this hugely contrasty surrounding. Very high on the intrigue scale, and I'm glad there's a resolution.
