Wow, what a striking portrait! And like many of your best ones, and uncomfortable feeling for the viewer as we're left to ponder how willing/aware is the subject to the intent of the photographer, and by extension how complicit we are. While his eyes would appear to be looking just to the side, from the angle, it would seem that we are nearly sitting on his lap. (This is a whole other fascinating discussion, but I like to imagine that these people are blissfully unaware of the invisible eye.)
Add to that, the nostalgic colours where the hues would appear simultaneously vibrant and faded, and the sharp details such as the man's visible undershirt and his patchy skin (vitiligo?), and we're left with an arresting and affecting image. Well titled too! Now, if you could just remove that slight halo to the lower-right of his face, that would be great.
