The Cook (Work 3 of 3)

Late night, early morning, Sanjo, central Kyoto City. Japan is a phenomenal place to dine and drink. The sheer wealth of choice is overwhelming. Small eateries such as the above are often single staffed and the hours are long. Customers stagger in at all hours, seeking food and drink before heading home as the dawn hits the city.

Very nice!! I agree with Angry Buddha - it's the tones and lighting in this shot that make it work for me!
It also conveys a sense of solitude that IS the realm of the night shift worker..... A photographic success by any measure!
What's the next series??

This one's so cinematic. The contrast of tones in front of and behind the bar is very dynamic; proveying a sense of distance or separateness. For me this is one of your best, the look on the workers face compared with the nonchalant man hunched over his drink is great. Excellent.

Wow! This one has a superb atmosphere! The composition makes it looking like a painting of Edward Hopper, and its quality is really cinematic as Chris said! Beautiful work to end the series!
