@John Hartman: ;) thanks man! Bronnie from Christchurch, New ZealandBrilliant! You've given me the giggles and my daughter is looking at me funny. It looks like you've used a different type of processing here, or is that my imagination?? 27 Feb 2007 6:35am @Bronnie: aye, i used a rendered lighting effect and diffused glow. prior to doing so I messed around in curves for a bit. Thanks bronnie! Maoya from Rolle, SwitzerlandThese last three have hilarious characters. Hey you went back to see the hand-story-teller. 27 Feb 2007 10:14am @Maoya: hey maoya! hand story teller, maybe its the lateness of the night but you've lost me! Mike Cash from Kiryu, JapanI'm guessing that it is a railyard safety measure. If the train driver sees anyone not looking at him with a hand upraised, he assumes the train's approach hasn't been noticed and there is a danger of the person moving into the path of the train. Quite a good policy, but you can see from the workers' sheepish grins that they feel like complete idiots doing it. A wonderful capture of what must be a rare sight, displaying your normal extraordinary talent for being in the right place at the right time with a camera. 27 Feb 2007 12:42pm @Mike Cash: Yuip, you nailed it Mike. its a safety measure employed whenever there are construction workers anywhere near the tracks. The trains go past here so frequently though they seem to spend as much time waving as they do working ;) @Daniel: thanks man! Daroru from Osaka, JapanYoung Man! See, this is why I want to work on the railways. 27 Feb 2007 3:40pm @Daroru: I wanna be the native American ;) Damon Schreiber from Toronto, CanadaCurious image, and then when I saw the title, I nearly burst out laughing. The diffusion blur works quite well here and lends it a warm nostalgic feeling. 27 Feb 2007 6:41pm @Damon Schreiber: thanks man, I was trying to get out of a black and white/serious mood alley with the last few shots. felt the need to brighten up the blog... @Still: thanks still! theese guys were actually performing their safety protocol! The camera produced the sheepish grins! @H.O: thanks hiro-san! Zach Siebert from Bologna, Italythe colors are what i enjoyed most. you always got your camera ready, don't you? 28 Feb 2007 3:13pm @Zach Siebert: hey zach, I must admit I NEVER leave the house without it ;) Michael Zhang from New York City, United StatesY...M...C...A! Haha great photo, great poses, and awesome title! 28 Feb 2007 11:32pm @Michael Zhang: thanks michael! Alfredo J. Martiz J. from Tokyo, JapanGreat photo Duncan, good choice for the title, =) 1 Mar 2007 12:29am @Alfredo J. Martiz J.: ;) thanks ALfredo! |
