This is busy image. I think it works okay because the bike tire in the foreground is echoed by the bikes in the back. I think the shadow across the man's face should be stronger to add more mystery as to who he might be.

@Daniel: cheers mate. The shadow is an interesting point and I agree. I actually lightened that area in order to bring out his features more and with hindsight think it would be better as you suggested. oh well, its up now...
Great capture Duncan! I am drawn to the character and the rich tones! Excellent!

@Abdullah: many thanks abdullah!
I'm really attracted to the high-contrast here. Your man looks like he's up to something sneaky, but it's probably nothing more nefarious than can collecting. Not necessarily a fascinating subject, and as Daniel said a bit busy, but the lively contrast makes up for it, I'd say, as it really transports me to the feeling of warm sun-filled days. The only sunny days we have here in February are the extra cold ones, so I'll put myself in this man's shoes and soak it up by proxy.

@Damon Schreiber: hey Damon, I'm back at a keyboard and feeling remarkably chipper so its catch up time. aye, a tad busy, and id have liked to isolate him a little more as his surroundings are a bit distracting. We've had a mental winter over this way, felt like an english summer at times. You want sun, I want snow, we could trade houses next winter if its the same situation.
I like a great deal of the composition with elements to transmit a real moment. I comment also the play of tones what you present in the exemplary form. Good work

@filipe franco: thank you so much filipe!
Great shot.. i agree with damon, this man looks as though he's quite a sneak.

@Nick Passantino: aye, it looks that way, although I believe (but don't know) he was one of the if not homeless but certainly out of luck sorts. colllecting cans for money is one of the biggest sources of revenue here in japan for homeless people. I wish him well.
I find these situations hard to shoot because of the bright sunlight and shadows of the leaves; it can easily leave an image over/under exposed. You've maintained a crisp control of the detail however, and as Damon says looks like you've caught the guy up to something; although it's probably nothing. Really liking this series, makes me want to try some more portrait shots over the coming weeks.

@Chris Sullivan: Thanks Chris, I really find this site inspiring, I only have to peruse the community page to see stuff Id like to try myself, your work no exception, I actually feel like dusting off my old EOS film camera and trying it the old fashioned way after seeing your recent work.
Nice B&W Duncan, actually I think he is up to something, he is picking up the cans I assume

@Alfredo J. Martiz J.: yes, he was picking up the cans as a means of revenue I believe. he seemed to be in hard times, although he quite well dressed, I wish him well.
Like this. A sad and evocative capture.
