Chris Sullivan from Melbourne, AustraliaHe's contemplating something deep, or just listening to some tunes; either way the lighting and way it's framed emphasises the introspective nature of the shot which makes for quite an involving photo. 22 Feb 2007 7:00am @Chris Sullivan: Thanks Chris...sorry for the lack of comms mate. I have some stuff going on over here which is taking up all my time. Ill be catching up though. Thanks again! Craiger from Vacaville, California, United StatesCool portrait. I like how the light outlines his face! 22 Feb 2007 8:04am @Craiger: Thanks Craiger! Manuela Photography from Hainburg (near Frankfurt/Main), GermanyCool profile portrait! 22 Feb 2007 9:02am @Manuela Photography: Thanks Manuela! @Sylvia: Thanks so much sylvia! @Craig Persel: Thanks Craig! @Angry Buddha: Cheers Sean! Sarah from Gainesville, United StatesGreat use of the shadows to make us wonder... another great shot! 22 Feb 2007 7:27pm @Sarah: Cheers Sarah! Damon Schreiber from Toronto, CanadaWell, I'd say it's another excellent shot, the gaze, the backlighting, the natural beauty of youth (damn them!). And I hate to be churlish, and not to discount the processing you've already done on it, but with a bit of straightening, lighter mid-tones, and a touch more sharpening, this would really come to life (for me). It's good now; could be great. 22 Feb 2007 8:44pm @Damon Schreiber: Thanks Damon. The original is a noisy mess. A combination of me messing around with ISO and available light and so on. The processing was an attempt to smooth it out as much as possible. That or go with extra grain to cover up the noise. Steve H from London, United KingdomOutstanding portrait...I find this fascinating. 22 Feb 2007 10:07pm @Steve H: Thanks Steve. he seemed 'locked' onto something or other, an unwavering stare for sure. That to me always shows purpose/motivation. He certainly wasnt 'zoned out' or anything. So I get the 'pent up anger' reading...He certainly seemed to be mulling over something or other. Bronnie from Christchurch, New ZealandI think he looks a bit petulant, very teenaged! perhaps a little more sharpening would bring out the lines of his profile more. 22 Feb 2007 10:49pm @Bronnie: Thanks Bronnie. Yeah, the profile is rather hazy. Read the reply to Damons to see where I was coming from PP wise here ;) Jason Kravitz from Brussels, BelgiumJapanese people seem so hip to me. This guy is a good poster boy for teen angst and musical chic 23 Feb 2007 11:12am @Jason Kravitz: cheers Jason, the original is REALLY noisy, due to me accidentally messing fiddling with my ISO settings, the soft focus came about due to the above. Michelle Bialowas from Melbourne Victoria, AustraliaI just love the softness and lighting to this image has and a wonder selection of depth of field. 23 Feb 2007 12:36pm @Michelle Bialowas: Thanks Michelle! @jennifer radio: cheers Jennifer! Rodique Kovenkin from BelarusI like this photo. The light is amazing here. Well done. 23 Feb 2007 1:37pm @Rodique Kovenkin: Hey Rodion! great to hear from you again! many thanks, Love your new blog btw! @Alfredo J. Martiz J.: Thank you so much Alfredo! Paul Ricciardi from West Hartford, United StatesSorry for not dropping by lately...this shot is nice, the lighting is good as mentioned, but what gets me is his eyes and the expression, emotion, and depth they portray. He seems to be gazing off into a distance, into a plane of existence we cannot fathom. it's like he has tapped into a higher level of peace and serenity for a moment and you captured that single fleeting second of epiphany forever on film. 26 Feb 2007 3:37pm @Paul Ricciardi: no problem Paul, Im probably as busy as you but infinetly more sick! although I am in recovery and the backs not feeling too bad...hence the reply. I always love your readings Paul, you see things in images I wish I could. |
