Stu from Kyoto, JapanClever title for a great and simple shot. It really does speak for itself. Super. 20 Feb 2007 5:59am @Stu: Cheers Stu! Manuela Photography from Hainburg (near Frankfurt/Main), GermanyExcellent, Duncan you made it again! 20 Feb 2007 9:18am @Manuela Photography: Thanks Manuela! Francis from Hong KongSimple vertical and horizontal lines. great perspective. Works well in black and white. 20 Feb 2007 10:38am @Francis: Cheers Francis! @Makoto: ;) flamingo style! love that! cheers Makoto! @Michelle Bialowas: Thanks Michelle! Sylvia from Milano, ItalyVery striking. I thought it was a prison shot from the Community collection. Very 'alone' feel. 20 Feb 2007 2:01pm @Sylvia: Thanks Sylvia! I promise you Ive not been to prison! It was quite strange to see the subway so empty to be honest. @Portland: Thanks Portland! Michael Zhang from New York City, United StatesHaha the title. Clever. I like the background the linear perspective of walls, lines, and doors makes for the subject. 20 Feb 2007 3:57pm @Michael Zhang: Thanks Michael! Bronnie from Christchurch, New ZealandEverything works for me in this shot, even the title! 20 Feb 2007 6:30pm @Bronnie: Cheers Bronnie! Jerry from Tampa, United StatesDuncan - such wonderful tones in a b/w - Marvelous job! 20 Feb 2007 7:32pm @Jerry: Thanks Jerry! I used a gradient map in my conversion and adjusted levels/applied a hard light filter to this one. It can really help to increase contrast but keep the midtones nice and even. Nick Chase from Santa Rosa, California, United StatesI was trying to figure out how you get so many comments on your work, asside from it being interesting to look at, and I realized that...you actually write back to everyone...what a concept. Thanks for the indirect tip. 20 Feb 2007 8:40pm @Nick Chase: Thanks Nick...and here I am writing back to you! I just thought it would be a nice gesture as I realise it takes time to comment on peoples work. It does tend to consume time though so take it easy! Ali-G from Ottawa, CanadaI first i thought this was a shot of the inside of a prison and then realized he is waiting for a train... maybe the same difference ! LOL 20 Feb 2007 8:43pm @Ali-G: To some people theyre remarkably similar im sure. Although I must say I love train rides. I tend to choose slower trains as opposed to fast ones if given the choice. They're good 'unwind' time for me, especially after work if my kids are already in bed etc. Nick Passantino from Bronx, United StatesA great shot, great tones. Great use of b&w. 20 Feb 2007 9:46pm @Nick Passantino: Thanks Nick! Michael from Glasgow, United KingdomNicely done. I'd imagine it was tricky shooting in that light, so i'm impressed with the sharpness. Nice B&W. 20 Feb 2007 10:29pm @Michael: Cheers Nick. The lighting is actaully not that bad on one of the kyoto subway lines and this was the one. The other is tremendously dim and almost unshootable if theres any motion at all. Daroru from Osaka, JapanNice perspective shot. I like the balance in the composition between the darks of the doors and the dark of the figure. 20 Feb 2007 11:33pm @Daroru: Cheers Daroru! @Angry Buddha: Thanks Sean! Alfredo J. Martiz J. from Tokyo, JapanNice title Duncan, really nice shot, so typical of what happens in a Keitai driven society! 21 Feb 2007 4:38pm @Alfredo J. Martiz J.: Cheers Alfredo! Damon Schreiber from Toronto, CanadaSuch a lonely image. I didn't recognise it as a train station because of the barricades. But it makes more sense understanding the location. Good pose (on his part) and composition (on yours). Never having had a cellphone, I can never understand what these people are staring at. Please don't tell me, though. I'd rather remain mystified. 21 Feb 2007 5:15pm @Damon Schreiber: Thanks man. Back home I never had a cell phone either. They were actually frowned upon somewhat, especially whipping them out in public. Over here though Ive become japanese in my inability to function without one. Well I could function but I feel incomplete without it. Its worrying ;) @Prashanth: cheers prasanth! Chris Sullivan from Melbourne, AustraliaCool title, a photo that embodies commuting. Nice shot man! 24 Feb 2007 10:14pm @Chris Sullivan: Thanks Chris, he had the flamingo stance down pat and I couldnt resist ;) @Untitled: domo arigatou gozaimausu! |
