Damon Schreiber from Toronto, CanadaWow, what a face he has, so full of life and grace! Looks like he could tell stories... First rate work on the processing too! 6 Feb 2007 5:03am @Damon Schreiber: cheers mate! Aye, he's got a few up his sleeve no doubt. Michael Zhang from New York City, United StatesThis is excellent. The sharp details of his face are excellent. Striking image. 6 Feb 2007 5:07am @Michael Zhang: Thanks Michael! M.E. from Encino, United Statesthe lines, the facial expression, the b&w processing worked well on this picture! it's superbly done! 6 Feb 2007 5:09am @M.E.: Cheers M.E! Sidonie from Sydney, AustraliaFull of character and narrative. Nice b & w processing. 6 Feb 2007 5:31am @Sidonie: Cheers Sidonie! @Daniel: Thank you kindly! Bronnie from Christchurch, New ZealandWhat stories he could tell - awesome expression on his face, and yes, your processing is fabulous! 6 Feb 2007 8:28am @Bronnie: Thanks Bronnie! @Prashanth: cheers Prasanth! @Mike Cash: He's got the cool factor down hasnt he. cheers Mike! Manuela Photography from Hainburg (near Frankfurt/Main), GermanyExcellent portrait!Love the processing. 6 Feb 2007 9:45am @Manuela Photography: Thanks Manuela! @Herve: hey Herve! Jonny Depp a la P.O.C. yes! I see what you mean! @Dimitrios: Thanks Dimitrios! @Evebone: thanks evebone! @mizuna: thanks Mizuna! Paul Ricciardi from West Hartford, United StatesI've always wanted to do more portrait work, especially in this vein of things yet I've never had the guts to take a camera out on the streets and photograph people. I quite like this shot, from a technical standpoint it is well and beyond what most people do, you produce wonderfully exposed portraits with a consistency that is enviable. And from an evocative standpoint, well, this is simply lovely. 6 Feb 2007 1:11pm @Paul Ricciardi: Cheers Paul. Im more comfortable with candids for sure, this was a rare moment in which I requested the take. Angry Buddha from United StatesYou do such a great job at photographing people. Fantastic job on this shot. 6 Feb 2007 1:26pm @Angry Buddha: Cheers Sean! @Craig Persel: Cheers Craig! @Fred: Thanks Fred! @Pero: Hey man, cheers! see you soon! @Stu: Thanks Stu!! Loved your candid today! Wayne from Melbourne, AustraliaBeautiful. Like all your other shots =D...I really like the story in this one...It makes me wonder what his eyes have seen and where he's been. I love the detailing around his eyes and textures in the photo...from the soft fabric...sunkissed skin...and the harder rock wall. Awesome! 6 Feb 2007 4:13pm @Wayne: Thanks Wayne! He had a face that said he'd done some living and thats for sure. Shuva from Hyderabad, IndiaYou got pretty good contrast but I think the constrast could have been improved a little more bit--in my view its slight underexposed. 6 Feb 2007 4:24pm @Shuva: Cheers shuva! To be honest, I'm fairly happy with the exposure, his skin was pretty dark, and this kind of matches my memory of the guy. @badala: cheers badala! @Pedro Ferreira: Thanks Pedro! @Still: Thanks mate! Yvon from Meerkerk, NetherlandsI wish I had the nerves to take portraits like this. I love it. Very good! 6 Feb 2007 9:58pm @Yvon: Im not exactly full of confidence Yvon at this kind of thing to be honest. Candids are much more comfortable for me! Thanks for the visit! Chris Sullivan from Melbourne, AustraliaStriking. An interesting portrait, I like how the edgy (granite?) background mirrors what's going on with the man himself. I agree with Damon and Bronnie, I reckon he'd have a few good stories to tell 6 Feb 2007 10:18pm @Chris Sullivan: Aye, I'd love to go for beers with this bloke and see what he reels off. cheers Chris! Michael from Glasgow, United KingdomSuperb detail and expression. The B&W conversion is very nicely done too. Nice one. 6 Feb 2007 11:52pm @Michael: Thanks so much Michael! Steve H from London, United KingdomStrikes me as a man with much confidence!..thats the photographed and the photographer as well. 7 Feb 2007 12:15am @Steve H: Cheers Steve. Ive been to your blog mate, and there's no end of stunning shots! Aaron Schmidt from Auckland, New ZealandExcellent portrait. Just a shade too dark for my tastes (but this could also be a result of the white color scheme you are using). Loving the goatee. =) 7 Feb 2007 12:28am @Aaron Schmidt: Aye, feel like growing one myself to be honest Aaron. Shiva from Kajang, MalaysiaDuncan, Thanks for you comments mate... lots more to come for this month and I am intending to only put different perspectives on the festival. Anyway.. the potrait is very candid! Is this shot a one off thing where you walk by the person and shot straight without waiting? I would be interested to know! Cheers! 7 Feb 2007 1:57am @Shiva: This was a very rare requested shot (think Ive got another one on here somewhere but the rest are candids). Thanks for the visit mate! Rene from Kitchener-Waterloo, CanadaExcellent photo, really well done. I wish I could figure out how to get emotion out of my photo's like this. Mine feel so cold in comparison. 7 Feb 2007 4:51am @Rene: I give all credit to the subjects Rene. I could have photographed this guy with my cell phone and he'd still exude character and emotion. Thanks man! Alfredo J. Martiz J. from Tokyo, JapanReally nice portrait Duncan, I love the age lines in his face, pretty nice expression you have captured, also the way he turned this head slightly to the his right for you photo is nice, really natural, Great One! 7 Feb 2007 4:46pm @Alfredo J. Martiz J.: Thanks Alfredo! WuKa from Gdynia, PolandOh man! The man's face shows every step of his life, every battle and moments of proud. I love this! 8 Feb 2007 9:54pm @WuKa: thank you wuka! Untitled from Kyoto, JapanWell Duncs...it came down to the wire I guess in the end. It was close...it was a good bet in the end! Cheers! As for this shot...I think it's one of your best. These recent portrait shots work very well in tandem with the train and laundry series. It's very compelling to see the way you keep switching the arena and manage to produce portraits that always have a narrative embedded in their somewhere. Wonderful. Learned a lot from these. Thanx. 10 Feb 2007 4:41am @Untitled: a fine bet and you almost got another 6 pack mate! Craiger from Vacaville, California, United StatesI love it! A Japanese hippster! You don't see many like him! An absolutely great portait (just like everone else said)!!!! 13 Feb 2007 11:59pm @Craiger: Cheers Craiger! Michelle Bialowas from Melbourne Victoria, AustraliaWow, more then just a portrait! I can feel his mood, his rawness, his life. I am sure every wrinkle around his eyes depicts a worldly journey of his life - I think he has seen and experienced alot. 14 Feb 2007 2:54am @Michelle Bialowas: Thanks again Michelle. such kind comments! much appreciated! |
