@Jerry: Cheers Jerry! what a beautiful macro from you today incidentally! marvellous!
The colors are lovely. Something oriental?
4 Feb 2007 2:54am
@Lipika: hey lipika/shuva! Oriental indeed. love the japanese tea ceremony, it so ceremonial and instilled with years of tradition. The tea's lovey too!
The above comment was from me, Shuva and not Lipika(my wife).

@Shuva: gotcha! say hello to Lipika anyway!
Did you ask the young lady to pose? Or did you capture the moment as she was going about serving the tea? Either way, a fantastic shot. (And one she would no doubt love to have a nice print of).

@Mike Cash: Hey Mike, this was unposed due to her vocation (geisha). The idea of talking to one just seemed too difficult!
Fantastic one! I like a lot the way you captured the reflections.

@badala: Thanks badala!
Great title, the same could be said for this photograph. These types of images are always interesting, the framing and subject just makes for very involving pieces. A quintessentially Japanese shot, yet not the typical 'Japanese' shot if you get what I mean. Great stuff mate!

@Chris Sullivan: Thanks Chris, Id love to get this kind of thing on video as the ceremony itself is most beautiful. If AM3 ever supports video, it'll be the 1st thing I post.
Like the reflections here Duncs! Good work again...

@Untitled: Thanks mate!
I've never seen the tea ceremony photographed before. Very nicely done!

@Stu: Hey man, A bit tricky to find opportunities to catch it. If you ever see one, make sure the EOS is with you!
Really delicate photo Duncan, lovely details. Very nicely done!

@Alfredo J. Martiz J.: Thanks ALfredo! much appreciated!
Do you have any other photos of the tea service? It's absolutely like your caption describes =D and you certainly have got the right touch to photography...no doubt about that one!

@Wayne: I have quite a collectio of the ceremony Wayne, Ive been to a couple during my stay here. I posted another one of a geisha during the ceremony itself a while back.
Softly and zen! Beautiful image!

@Martine Lapointe: Thanks you Martine!
That is perfect, Duncan. Color, clarity... just perfect.

@MontereyJohn: Thanks John!
Mmmm...mattcha! Love the reflection, the colours and the grace. Compositionally, I think I'd like it cropped to the bottom edge of the table as I feel the bottom triangle sets a border between the viewer and the action and thus takes away something from the intimacy of the mood. Then: bang, pow!
4 Feb 2007 12:05pm
@Damon Schreiber: aye. cropping. I cropped a sliver off the bottom to bring that table into the corner but there was something about that bowl I didnt want to lose. As for mattcha! its great isnt it. dont drink too much mind, plays hell with the tummy!
Brilliant Shot. I like everything about it, the colors and reflection.

@Dileep: Thanks Dileep. mighty fine Niagara stuff from you mate!
This is a very sharp picture - sharp (vibrant) colors, sharp reflection, sharp images! YOU ARE SOOOOOOO VERY VERY GOOD!
4 Feb 2007 4:47pm
@M.E.: awww...thanks M.E! youve made me go all red! Personally, all credit should be given to the artist performing the ceremony here, her actions dictated my shots. I just rolled along with what she was doing.
Looks like you are having fun in Kyoto. Nice shot. Cheers!@
4 Feb 2007 4:56pm
@Daniel: Thanks Daniel! And yup, Kyoto is indeed proving most enjoyable!
A delicate touch indeed! Harmonious composition and subtl colours give an intimate touch to this one!

@Still: Thanks Still. an absolute wonderful shot from you today (as always).
strong black--strong red--great reflection--all in all--a great composition--billy

@bronzebilly: Cheers Billy!
Very cool idea of filling the frame with just the hand and the tea. It really accents the reflections and the "delicacy" of the moment. Great shot!

@Michael Zhang: Cheers Michael!
