Walkabout again. This time the edge of Gion, central Kyoto, just off from Sanjo Ohashi. The North side of Gion comprises of amongst other things, the citys red light district, one of the establishments and its bouncer can be seen eyeing up the 3 lads loitering about within range of the premises. The south side is radically different in tone and in its architectural style, street after street of traditional houses (often beautifully maintained/restored) and a generous smattering of temples and shrines. Here though we're north side, where traditional architecture gives way to concrete and cables.

It paints another picture of the orderly and pristine Japan that I know of.

@Yanle: Thanks Yanle, Japan does indeed posess the side you mentioned and the areas as shown above are certainly not common place. Outside designated areas within cites that is.
Wow,powerful shot ! Lots of details to be admired here =)

@Kheoh Yee Wei: Thanks so much! much appreciated Kheoh Yee Wei!
Hmm I like the shot as a architecture shot for its depth and detail...but I think because of it the little side story about the 3 boys vs. the bouncer tends to get lost in the detailed clutter if you hadn't pointed it out in the blurb. I love the darkish feel to the phot =D Great job!

@Wayne: hey wayne!. thanks for the visit mate. sorry ive been so rushed of late with this that and theother to do the rounds but I'll endeavour to catch up over sun/mon. Yeah the figures kind of get swallowed in the archirecture but I kind of like that, although I can understand your perspective on this.
Great shadow play here, and amid the chaos, the giant woman on top pointing the way out. Nice work- and no purple wires :-) !

@Damon Schreiber: hehe...you know what...this was in colour initially but I decided to play safe and convert to B&W after the previous purple fiasco. Luckily I prefered the B&W! anyway, my monitors going to get a seeing to if ever gives you a purple wire again.
This looks like a birds worst nightmare if it's flying low. Great detail on this one.
@Angry Buddha: Cheers Sean!
Bloody hell are they all real power lines??? That's unbelievable. Great work with this one mate.

@Colour blind: Oh yeah. thats only the beginning, the heart of gion is a matrix of them! cheers Kelly!
The woman on the bilboard is funny.

@Alfredo J. Martiz J.: Cheers ALfredo! Hows Tokyo btw? I only got over there the one time but it seemed a lot 'wider' than Kyoto. Much more space despite the enormous population.
Nice scene here, very complex, there are lots of details, i like it.

@Pedro Ferreira: Cheers Pedro!
Oh yeah, I'm loving the mess of everything in this scene! You'll have to stare at it for hours to figure out all the details...

@Maoya: Thanks Maoya, as Sean said, imagine that mess if you're a bird!
The more you look at it the more you see, the details make for a very interesting photo.
