Edit 12:00am Japan Time. I actually owe Damon a debt of thanks for this series as his last two have proven most inspirational. Both "senex' and 'The Unsuccesful Voyeur' have succesfully restored my 'mojo' and got me fired up. Like 'Senex', this one features a single subject, and like 'The Unsuccesful Voyeur' the window plays quite a significant part in this and the following images. Processing wise, it's going to be another 'wheels on/off the wagon' journey in itself. ;)

@Kheoh Yee Wei: Thanks so much!
Very much at peace...looking out at a view that is blanketed...but she doesn't care....nice capture that, for me, tells any number of stories.

@jc: Cheers John. I see you're most enjoying Aminus3 mate! fine work.
What a beautiful and soft scene. I'd even say romantic, because in the movie that's playing in my head right now, we cut from this scene to the one of her memories of dancing around the ballroom with the man she's going to visit. Evocative!

@Damon Schreiber: Thanks Damon. Im not sure you're going to like where this series goes though...im a bit wary of it to be frank...
Beautiful shot!! The blurring outside of the window made this shot!! :-)

@tetsu: Thanks tetsu. It was incredibly misty and I chose to shoot in RAW (which I rarely do), which I think helped me with the colour graduation through the window.
Something out of th Ghibli animation mate...theres mystery and fantasy all in this picture. I love how she's looking outside the train window and you've caught a huge part of that window. This photo definitely takes you on the journey she's on. Leaves me with alot of curiosity.

@Colour blind: Cheers Kelly. There's something otherworldly about it too I feel.
Looks very sad... Almost like she's riding on the railroad of life, ready to go to the final destination... Maybe that's just me, though...

@Mammoth in Chief: Its funny you should say that Mammoth as the succeeding images may prove your theory most prophetic...maybe...
I think the interior needs to be a little brighter. Nice capture of her contemplative look.
13 Jan 2007 1:38pm
@Daniel: The darkness of the interior was to be honest intended. Reasons may become clear over the series...whether it was a good choice or not is another question entirely.
A superb and serene portrait, as your habit... I would know her thoughts...

@Still: Thanks Still! She does look at peace here doesnt she. she was a 'lucky find'!

@Kenn Eng: Cheers Kenn!
Can't wait to see where you take this one. The window here is what strikes me as important, there seems to be an invisible thread connecting the woman, the window, and the outside world with the window acting as mediator, interpretor, and lens. It all culminates in a somewhat sad, grey, reflective photo.
13 Jan 2007 8:30pm
@Paul Ricciardi: Thanks Paul, you're hitting the nail on the head here...all may well be revealed, to varying levels of success in the next two images.
Very interesting. I like the colour of the window and the toning of the image.
13 Jan 2007 9:54pm
@Martin Schneider: Thanks Martin, I wanted the window to be a subject in itself, or rather the environment beyond. I'm as interested in what you cant see as much as what you can.
Wonderful shot!

@Bahar: thanks bahar!
I love how you tease the viewer by showing only the vague colors of the landscape she's looking into. I'm digging the mystery and tension.

@Michael Zhang: Thanks Michael. not sure you're going to like image number 3 though...
Painting-- portrait, shades of French impressionism via the window, exquisite!
