Coin Laundry 5 - Final Cycle.Posted by Duncan Galbraith (kyoto, Japan) on 12 December 2006 in People & Portrait and Portfolio. The partner to yesterdays image. He wanted something mean and moody and asked if I could shoot him 'low' and 'cool'. He basically told me where he wanted the camera so any criticism/compliments shall indeed be passed on! This draws an end to the series. It's been a lot of fun for me personally and am currently mulling over the next one...watch this space and thanks for all your feedback!

Jaymin from New York City, United StatesGreat finish! The mood is quite different from the 4th picture and ends the series with a whole different view. 12 Dec 2006 6:17am @Jaymin: Thanks Jaymin. I toyed with changing the last two images around and ending on a lighter note but this is the shot he requested so I gave him the final word. H.O from Victoria, CanadaGreat series Duncan. Fallenargo from North Bay, CanadaGreat mood and position. There may be a bit to much shadown on the eyes. 12 Dec 2006 2:35pm @Fallenargo: Aye, the lighting was pretty dire but I kind of left it a bit moody in PP stage. but yeah, it is quite dark. Damon Schreiber from Toronto, CanadaWow; he knew what he wanted... Definitely a religious (iconic?) image, and a fitting close to this series. Can't wait to see what's next. 12 Dec 2006 2:38pm @Damon Schreiber: New project is cooking Damon...not quite ready yet! Craiger from Vacaville, United StatesReally a nice series. Great work on this one mate...you're an inspiration!! 13 Dec 2006 1:23am @Colour blind: Thanks Kelly. Knocked for six. I'll have to get stu to slap me. It was unbelievable what Damon did to be honest..Im a bit speechless. I doff my cap forever more in his direction. Daniel from United StatesLike I said before, this guy likes the laundry mat way too much! 13 Dec 2006 1:35am @Daniel: ;-) I tell ya, theyre quite the place to be seen out here in Kameoka! real hot spots! Michael Zhang from New York City, United StatesAwesome portrait. I love the circle/laundry machine door behind him - great placement. Your interactivity with strangers has inspired us to be more open and forward with our photography. One thing I'd adjust is to highlight his face using a lasso tool, and brighten it up or adjust the levels a bit. It seems a bit too dark. Nonetheless, great series! 13 Dec 2006 2:09am @Michael Zhang: Thanks so much Michael. I do have an advantage I guess being in Japan, people seem a whole lot less senstive than back home. I don't think I'd have quite the same success if I tried this on a Manchester estate. As for the darkness issue, yeah I agree, It should be lighter, I really wanted to bring out his eyes a little more. But once again, time was my enemy (family, job etc). Im going to try and find more time over the christmas break to really fine tune the images Im working on then. Kenn Eng from New York City, United Statesreminds me of a yakuza gang member over here in new york. great composition 13 Dec 2006 3:27am @Kenn Eng: Thanks Kenn. Thankfully this guy was far from dangerous! Suby from Milton Keynes, United KingdomCool shot, not as interesting as yesterdays shot and wish there was a tad more light on his face, oh well goes with the mood :) Suby 13 Dec 2006 4:22am @Suby: Hey Suby. I'd like it lighter too but I think he'd be happier with the mean n moody look ;-) |
