Darren from Tokyo, JapanNice shot mate. Good idea to ad the bike with there fashion really matches. Did you ask them to pose for this one? 5 Dec 2006 5:52am @Darren: aye, this was a posed one. I wandered out of an arcade and they caught my eye. Not usually up for asking folks but they looked harmless enough! MnX from PARIS, France8? Does it mean that the girls are only here to help enhance the bike? Whatever, It looks like a studio photo; everything looks so well at its place and the lighting is so good. 5 Dec 2006 7:09am @MnX: Thanks man. the lighting was a a bit crumby in the raw image but messing around with curves/contrast really helped bring it together. Makoto T from Sapporo, JapanWhat would two girls be interested in. 5 Dec 2006 7:25am @Makoto T: hey Makoto, thanks for your visit. Think they may have been interested in my mate who's more of a catch than me! He was wandering around in the distance. Stu from Kyoto, JapanNicely done there Duncs. I like the title as it makes you alter your perception of the bike's relevance in the shot... 5 Dec 2006 9:02am @Stu: Cheers Stu! Welcome back btw! and arigatou gozaimasu for the omiyage mate! Gnarf from Stockholm, SwedenNice shot and very cool bike! :) The bag and boots in the bottom of the picture is very white. Maybe a little too white? Otherwise the lightning is really good. 5 Dec 2006 9:15am @Gnarf: hey Gnarf! thanks for your visit! hope the games industry isnt working you too hard! emarquetti from Itajai, BrazilCool image! It´s look all scenary was made to this photo, the folders, girls, wall, and bike, making a time mixing. 5 Dec 2006 11:48am @emarquetti: Thanks emarquetti! @Prashanth: cheers prasanth! cracking landscape from you today! Craiger from Vacaville, United StatesYea, nice comp. There is a lot going on here. I like photos that make you wonder what is going on! 5 Dec 2006 1:09pm @Craiger: Cheers Craiger! Nice creative image from you...would love to see more! AJ Kassam from Ottawa, CanadaAs the others have said - love the composition. Really is like a studio shot.... 5 Dec 2006 1:16pm @AJ Kassam: Aye, thats lennon. See the winters hit your part of the world mate. beautifully frosty shot today! Fallenargo from North Bay, CanadaEverything I would have said has been covered above. Great shot. 5 Dec 2006 1:34pm @Fallenargo: Thanks Fallenargo! @Shuva: Cheers for the visit Shuva. aye, I know what you mean about the 'set up'...I guess sometimes things just fall into place. @Suby: Cheers Suby! Damon Schreiber from Toronto, CanadaThat's the stuff, Duncan! That's what I was waiting for! Love the bike, love the poses, love the symmetry between their gaze and Mr. Lennon's. Wish the bricks were a bit straighter, but I think you made the most of what you had, besides, technical perfection isn't necessarily called for in shots like these. Excellent and it more than makes up for the autumn leaves :-) 5 Dec 2006 3:35pm @Damon Schreiber: Cheers man. A rare venture into the 'posed' photo arena for me. Was shot on the 'day to never be mentioned again' ;)...this was after a trip or two to starbucks and a caffeine/inspiration recharge via good ol' Moriyama. My accomplice who is infinetly better skilled in Japanese told me the phrase for 'do you mind if i take your photo' and I just thought I'd give it a whirl along Terramchi street in Kyoto central city. Thankfully they were most gracious if a little nervous which (thankfully) shows through their body language, it helped 'make' the image I feel. Colour blind from Tokyo, JapanThis is another top shot mate!! I swear you've got a talent for stuff like this!!! It so looks like a shot in a studio...fit for a commercial. 5 Dec 2006 4:34pm @Colour blind: Cheers Colourblind. heck of a hike you've been on there mate. really LUSH landscape. Kuroyama is a fine contrast to your excellent urban shoots round Tokyo. Fine stuff from you. Tim from Bratislava, SlovakiaThe composition is perfect. Definitely a beautiful shot ! 5 Dec 2006 5:35pm Ryan Yam from Quezon City, PhilippinesOoo.. Japanese fashion. I like the washed out colors of the shot, it feels suited for fashion. Oh and they look good together with the bike on the right. 5 Dec 2006 5:39pm @badala: Thank you badala! @Still: thanks Still! Mommith in Chief from Naperville, United StatesNicely done! It tells alot of story... The image has a living depth to it. 5 Dec 2006 9:29pm @Mommith in Chief: Cheers man. keep on! Mommith in Chief from Naperville, United StatesOooh, The Offspring and the Beatles... Well, that's great! 5 Dec 2006 9:30pm @Mommith in Chief: Aye, they chose a nice spot to sit. Chris Sullivan from Melbourne, AustraliaExcellent framing, the inclusion of the bike is great. I love the content of this photo, from the band-posters in the background, the clothes they're wearing to the scrubbed-off graffiti on the wall. Nice title too! 5 Dec 2006 9:49pm @Chris Sullivan: Cheers Chris. much appreciated! Angry Buddha from United StatesYou could sell eight ball bikes with this shot. Well done. 5 Dec 2006 9:58pm @Angry Buddha: Thanks man...maybe Ill start a side business with the bike idea... tuan from Australiawow. Great shot - very representative of japanese youth culture. 6 Dec 2006 1:05am @tuan: Thanks tuan! Michael Zhang from New York City, United StatesI like the Korn and Offspring albums in the back. Those graphics show how much American culture has sinked into Japanese culture. Great capture. 6 Dec 2006 1:23am @Michael Zhang: Cheers Michael..good to see John getting a look in though... @Daniel: Thank you Daniel. Matt Cauquil from Brussels, BelgiumExcellent composition, Korn, Lennon, Classic Bike and japanese socks and boots, worlds collide in this one picture. Great job 6 Dec 2006 12:22pm @Matt Cauquil: Thanks man. the backdrop was a bit of a dream to be honest, the bike a stroke of luck and the two girls dressed to 'perfection' was the icing on the cake. This was shot towards the end of a very depressing and uninspired day so it really made my day to catch this. Jason Kravitz from Brussels, BelgiumI agree with everyone above - top shot - some really nice elements all come together. 6 Dec 2006 3:12pm @Jason Kravitz: Thanks Jason. One of those moments I guess where something seems to go right, especially nice after the truly crappy day I'd had (see Damon's comment and my reply two days previous) Addey from United KingdomDefinitely, on the poster/advert/commericial level. Brilliant capture! 6 Dec 2006 8:24pm @Addey: Thanks addey, weird how some things just just fall into your lap like this. Cheers for your visit. Martin from a small village in Lower Austria, AustriaExcellent lighting in this one, also compositionally superb! 6 Dec 2006 9:07pm @Martin: Thanks martin. took a bit of tweaking in PS to sort out the lighting but I couldnt really have asked for more at the location. Jahdi from United KingdomAlright there, brother. Another top photo. I tell you, what with the bike and posters, it's like the ad for an alternate reality American teen flick. Dreams of escaping the small town, while The Boss (or, I suppose, The Hold Steady in 2006) plays on the invisible stereo. Like a modern version of the video game Mother/Earthbound, in a way. 7 Dec 2006 1:00am @Jahdi: Heh man. how you doing? I'm busier than ever here. lets get on the ol' msn soon or failing that gmail. Cheers for the visit man. I'm gonna check out your posts this weekend and catch up. @Sidney: Cheers Sidney, they certainly were a cool couple of kids! |
