Felt the desire to break with current tradition and finally post a posed image as oppossed to the recent candid shots. This man is a police officer. And no, its not regulation attire. There was a Kyoto City Police Brass Band recital at Kyoto Eki recently, heres an officer who was assigned to crowd control. Nice to see the boys in blue have a sense of humour.

Pretty cool photo. Looks like one mean wrestling dude - a regular pint sized hulk hogan. I saw plenty of police in Kyoto, but never one like this! LOL!

@Daniel: Aye, he was one of a kind methinks. Cheers Daniel.
the mask actually reminds me of the middle ages. you nkow when someone was to be hanged or sth they always had this heavy guy wearing sth like this. great shot!

@Claireg: Hey Claireg, thanks for the comment, and yes, it is a rather eerie mask ne?
Mate you:d never notice a cop in this get up in Tokyo. It:s all the same especially on Sundays in Harajuku. If they didn:t wear the mask it:d be a suprise...hahaha. It:s a good break from your regular photos but still looking forward to the next one.

@Colour blind: Cheers Colourblind...love your tokyo pictures man, cracking stuff.
Hee hee. Try to get a photo of one of those [male] JR ticket sellers with the plucked eyebrows. Those guys freaked me out.

@Damon Schreiber: heh heh...I do have some male Jr shots, checked through, couldnt locate any plucked eyebrow guys...It will become my new mission!
way to recognize a photo-op. do you got any close-ups of that little nose poking out? that would be hilarious.

@Zach Siebert: No nose close ups im afraid Zach. but if i see him again, Ill see to it.

Great composition with the arm against the blue sky.

@Michael Zhang: Thanks Michael, please come again, youre always welcome.
I'm with Colour Blind on this one. Cops in the Kanto area are so serious these days, especially with the "on the special alert against terrorism" thing.
I like this shot a lot, especially the angle you caught here. Very cool.

@Craig Persel: Thanks Craig! It was one hell of a weird situation with hindsight. When I took it I didnt think too much of it, but trying to imagine Police Officers from back home doing this kind of thing seemed implausible to the nth degree.
