Kyoto Eki

Central Gate. The station is an interseting location and helps counter the eyesore of Kyoto Tower across the street. The station opened in 1997 and combines both futurism and cubism in its template. Kyoto is arguably the most traditional city in Jpan and the modern facade has drawn mixed reactions. Personally I like it. The scale alone is impressive but its the incidental details which really give it character. This 'skylight', although positioned by the stations central gate, tends to go unnoticed by the majority of people passing through. Features such as this abound if you take the time to explore.
