Personally I hate this building. Its at odds with everything Kyoto city is about.

Hahaha, I like the comment. I have a friend from Kyoto, she hates it too. Nice constrast with the dark clouds too.

It does sort of stick out doesn't it. Looks like the two observers are also contemplating it.

Couldn't agree more. It really ruins the neighbourhood imho. Pic from Kyoto eki? Great perspective.

@ ajk - yes its from the skyway at kyoto eki. am considering an eki series actually as its quite an interesting building.

When I left Kyoto in '95 it hadn't been built yet. I've been meaning to head back and have a look at it. some day I hope ;) Good idea on the Eki series.....would be interesting. So much to shoot at those places!!

The eki really was an interesting place when I went through there...I struggled for a long time to see if I could get a decent shot of that tower and gave it up. Maybe it was just too cold that day, or maybe I just couldn't do it. Nice work though--shows that Kyoto isn't all maikos and temples.

Great photo, the ominousness here really reflects your emotional response to the tower. Funny, on the day I spent in Kyoto city last summer, I didn't even notice it.

Reminds me of CN Tower in Toronto.
