Maiko

went to the Jidai Matsuri (Jidai festival) on the 22nd of the month and then walked across the city to Kodaiji, my favourite shooting location. Anyway, we bumped into around 6 Maiko (trainee geisha) at the temple. This was shot immediately outside the Kodaiji entrance.

This i a nice shot. Nice and sharp with the composition tight. The only problem I see is the (shells?) that are hanging in front of the main subjects face is hanging right in the middle of the second girls face. Other than that, i like it.

thanks Kody and Claireg. yeah i know what you mean and have a few shots of these maiko. Some with the 2nd girls face unoscured but for some reason I liked this one more. The main subjects expression kind of decided what got posted. As for whats hanging from the hairpiece, I believe it's fabric, possibly silk.

Excellent image, and I really like the tassels. Adds to the depth, and highlights your main subject. Her face is unusual and thought-provoking; not a generic maiko photo.

Great shot! The faces are very clear and sharp. The primary subject's eyes look so sad.

This is your best shot yet, the preceeding one, pumpkin express was almost as good. Between these two and the shots of Caleb you have some great photos. In all honesty the others need some real work. Do more like this.
