the main entranceway to Kodaiji isnt particularly lavish when compared to the likes of many another Kyoto city temple/shrine but that just makes me like it more. The temple itself is tucked away in one of the most traditional residential areas in the city, and is not the easiest to locate for anyone unfamiliar with the city. Its a mercifully quiet and more engaging experience compared to the more tourist heavy sights which tend to attract sightseers.
